Breadwinners announced winner of the "Impact in Social Enterprise 202 Award at the PwC Building Trust Awards
We’re honoured to announce that Breadwinners has been named the winner of the Impact in Social Enterprise Award at the 2025 PwC Building Trust Awards, in partnership with the School for Social Entrepreneurs.
The PwC Building Trust Awards celebrate organisations that are leading the way in building trust through transparency, accountability, and impact. Covering all sectors of the economy, the awards recognise those who go beyond compliance — using purposeful reporting, innovative technology, and authentic storytelling to demonstrate how their work creates real social and environmental value.
The judges were deeply moved by the stories and reporting from all shortlisted organisations, but Breadwinners stood out for our innovative, human-centred approach and commitment to continuous learning.
As the judges noted:
“Breadwinners’ reporting is very inspiring, and they put in a great application. Also, the need for what they do has only increased in the past year.”
Our journey: from finalist to winner
Having been a runner-up in 2024, Breadwinners was praised this year for showing clear improvements in impact reporting, drawing lessons from previous winners and embedding transparency more deeply across our organisation.
The judging panel highlighted our innovative use of AI for language translation and data collection, which has enabled us to make our reporting more inclusive and representative of the young refugees we support.
Through a partnership with Earlybird, we developed a participatory evaluation process that allows young people to share feedback in their own words and languages. Sixteen young refugees were paid to call other programme participants and mentors to collect insights about their experiences. This approach not only improved the depth and quality of our data — it also strengthened trust, connection, and co-ownership within our community.
Thank you
This award belongs to the young refugees who drive our work, our incredibly passionate core team and volunteer mentors, and our partners and funders who make it possible. — As PwC’s judges noted, “the need for what Breadwinners does has only increased.” We’ll continue to meet that need — placing our young people at the core of what we do.
