Breadwinners shortlisted for UK Social Enterprise of the Year 2026!!!
We’re incredibly proud to share that Breadwinners has been shortlisted for UK Social Enterprise of the Year 2026 at the Social Enterprise UK Awards!
We’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for our impact over the years, but this one feels particularly special. For the first time, Breadwinners has been shortlisted for the overall Social Enterprise of the Year award — recognising organisations that combine a clear vision and excellence in impact with demonstrating the power of social enterprise beyond the sector.
Breadwinners is one of just seven social enterprises shortlisted nationally, alongside an inspiring group of organisations showing how business can be used as a force for good.
Over the last 10 years, Breadwinners has grown from an ambitious idea into a community that has supported over 1,000 young refugees and people seeking asylum to build skills, confidence and wellbeing, and move towards employment and education.
We’ve done that through social enterprise: creating real paid work opportunities, trading at markets and with customers, and using business to bring people and communities together. At a time when the narrative around refugees can feel increasingly divided, we’re especially proud to show what young refugees contribute to communities across the UK.
This recognition belongs to the whole Breadwinners community — our young people, team, volunteers, trustees, funders, customers, partners and supporters. Thank you for believing in what we do and helping us get here.
Join us to share what we’re learning
And if you’d like to hear more about the impact behind our work, we’d love you to join us for our upcoming online event with Earlybird: Impact, Learning and the Way Forward.
We’ll share findings from our latest Impact Report, what we’ve learned from young people, and what we think needs to happen next. It will also be a chance to connect, ask questions and exchange learning with others working to create better opportunities for young refugees and people seeking asylum.
📅 Friday 25 September 2026 / 12:30–1:30pm / 💻 Online & free / 📊 Sharing our Leanrings and interactive breakout discussions with Breadwinners & Earlybird
