Breadwinners at the E-Prix – Formula E

On 26th July 2025, our managing director Martin kindly treated us to a few tickets for the Formula E , and what an unforgettable day it turned out to be!

It was exciting enough knowing our young people would have a great time, but there was something extra special about this event: Formula E is known for being one of the most planet-friendly motorsports in the world. As a charity that cares deeply about sustainability, we loved knowing that the sleek, high-performance cars we were cheering on were designed with net-zero carbon emissions in mind. Motorsport, but greener, that’s something we can get behind.

We kicked off the day at a café, waiting for everyone to arrive. While there, we had the joy of celebrating Kwiz’s birthday, a bright and ambitious young man who has volunteered with us and taken part in our Hey Salam Hola Bwakeye project. There were smiles, laughter, and a few slices of carrot cake before we set off for the track.

Once inside, we explored the activities, admired the cars up close, and soaked in the buzzing atmosphere. At one point we split up, and yes, a few of us got temporarily lost in the crowd, but we eventually regrouped, ready for the main event.

When the race began, it felt like a dream. Many of us had only ever seen this kind of spectacle on a screen, so to witness it live was electric. The roar of the engines, the flash of the cars as they sped past, the haze of smoke, the cheers from the crowd, it all added to the adrenaline rush. I could see the excitement lighting up everyone’s faces.

When the final lap ended, we lingered to celebrate. Honestly, who won didn’t matter, the real victory was in being together, sharing the moment, and creating memories.

We wrapped up our adventure at the photo booth, pulling silly poses and capturing spontaneous snaps to remember the day. Reflecting on it, Kwiz summed it up perfectly:

“Celebrating my birthday at the racetrack was next level! After the race, I can honestly say I had the time of my life — surrounded by speed, thrill, and pure joy with friends.”

This won’t be our last outing, because at Breadwinners, the community always finds a way to come together, to laugh, to share, and to turn little moments into meaningful memories.
