We’re partnering with Pret to get young people from refugee backgrounds into jobs!
I’m delighted to announce that Breadwinners is now working with Pret A Mangerret.and The Pret Foundation’s Rising Stars Programme to support our programmes grads into placements at Pret stores around London. As Volunteer Head of Corporate Employer Partnerships at Breadwinners, creating partnerships with employers who genuinely want to invest in young people’s futures is one of the most rewarding parts of my role, and it’s been fantastic to begin working with Pret on this exciting opportunity for our graduates.
To find out what working at Pret is all about, I recently went “behind the scenes” at a local Pret for my very own charity partner visit. Paulina, the manager, was fantastic and totally welcoming. She gave me a great intro to how the whole store runs, from working the till to watching the hot food prep to keeping the langars stocked with delicious Pret goodies. Did you know that all of the fresh food on display has a tiny, secret clock face drawn onto it so the team can tell how long it’s been out??
I also got to meet some of the amazing team members who work at the store, including a couple of Rising Stars alums. Everyone was working really hard, but the energy was high, with lots of joking and laughing. Pret seems like a brilliant place to work, but you don’t have to take my word for it! Here’s what one of the very first Breadwinners grads to get a Pret placement had to say about the job:
“Working at Pret is amazing. I really learned a lot about customer service and working in a team. That is so interesting job for me. I hope one day I get to the top post management position and use what I learned in college and university in a real workplace.”
