When Young People Shape the Story: Yousef’s Journey with Breadwinners

Martin introduced me to Yousef a month ago, he came to the office to present a proposal for a project he’s working on for Uni. Yousef was the first young person to ever access our support at Breadwinners, he pioneered the Risers programme and has come a long way.

Working alongside Yousef has been an incredible experience, a creative mind with a unique point of view, easy to brainstorm with. In one of our meetings he said: “We are on the same page” when discussing ideas for his project.

We spread the word about his project and a few young people immediately signed up to be Breadwinners ambassadors and be featured on his video project. Yousef is kind, gentle and very focused, I couldn’t expect less from someone who has been a part of this community from the very beginning. I felt genuinely inspired by the way he approached the work.

Over the following days we filmed across multiple locations with several young people. the group built something beautiful together through creativity and shared experience.

These experiences reflect the heart of Breadwinners. A young person who once came through our doors for support now leads a creative project that brings others into the spotlight. His journey shows the power of opportunity, community, and trust.
